background & history
Molly Susannah Pierce was born in 1744 near Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of a British appointed governor and his colonial born Loyalist wife. Her mother was despised by most of the colonists for choosing to stand with the British when the winds of revolution were in the air, and so many colonists wanted to rid the colonies completely of British presence. Molly's parents raised her surrounded by British politicians and officers, but they couldn't completely shield her from the talk of revolution. The word itself... revolution... stuck with her, filling her head with romantic notions of what it was and what it might entail.

When she was sixteen years old, she was married to a British officer, and while their marriage was not an unhappy one, Molly couldn't help her interest in the cause of freedom from the Crown in the colonies. She kept this information carefully hidden from her husband over the years, while the couple remained together, and Molly gave birth to three children, all boys.

In 1774, as things in the colonies came to a head, Molly met up with a group of patriots, and agreed to stage her own kidnapping, allowing them to use her as leverage against her husband. The leader of this group was a mysterious stranger, someone she'd never seen in her town before, but who very clearly had the charisma to lead a group of men. Though most of the men were distrustful of her at first, when their realized that Molly was, in fact, a sympathizer with the rebellion, he took a keen liking to her, and his men came to trust her as well. The pair began a heated affair while negotiations with Molly's husband continued. It was after a long night of passion that he revealed to her that he was Kindred, born hundreds of years ago, and had no love lost for the British Crown, as he'd fought alongside William Wallace in the Wars of Scottish Independence. Since then, he'd travelled to places all over the Empire, stirring up discontent with the Crown, and seeking to be part of shattering the King's power throughout the world. Molly was fascinated with his tales, and asked him, that night, to Embrace her, making her Kindred, of the Brujah bloodline.

When she returned to her husband, Molly served as a spy for the patriots, up until the ending of the war, in which all three of her sons were killed after running away and lying about their ages to fight for the independence of the colonies. Her husband was put on trial and executed by the newly established government, and Molly faked her own death to run away with her Sire. They spent nearly fifty years together, until his homeland called to him, and he went back to Scotland, leaving Molly in the care of several of his clanmates. Wherever talk of revolution could be found, there would also be Brujah fanning the flames, and Molly found her feet in being a part of that, serving as a spy, and even a soldier for many years, wherever she was needed to help bring freedom.

In recent years, Molly has found a home in New York City, loving the buzz and the feel of life there, the pulse that never stops. Her roots are strong there, and she has since become the Brujah primogen, serving on the council of Ventrue Prince Benjamin Knight. The Brujah and the Ventrue traditionally have a very strong rivalry and dislike of one another, but something clicked between Molly and Ben, and despite all the odds, the pair fell for each other, very hard and very fast. While both fought their feelings, convinced that it could only lead to disaster, the point came when they couldn't resist anymore.

Since then, they've grown strong in their relationship and found their feet, despite the cards being well stacked against them, and the fact that some of the higher ranking members of their respective clans are highly distrustful of the whole situation. They remain lovers, but keep the professional side of things professional... mostly.
the kindred
Within a vampire bloodline known as The Kindred, seven vampire clans are collectively joined, forming the largest sect of vampires called the Camarilla, and survive through the Masquerade, disguising themselves as humans. Camarilla policy is that vampires should try to fit in with and hide from the rest of humanity, as to easily feed on them. For this reason, they created a web of lies and misinformation, called the Masquerade, to make the public believe that supernatural beings like vampires could not possibly exist. The Camarilla also believes that the only way the vampire species can survive in these modern nights is if it unite. Any breach of the Masquerade by any vampire risks exposing the entire race. Both viewpoints are fundamentally opposed by the Sabbat, an opposing sect to the Camarilla. The Camarilla also enforces the Eldest as ruling class over the younger vampires. The seven clans of the Camarilla are Ventrue, Brujah, Malkavian, Toreador, Gangrel, Tremere and Nosferatu. When a human is turned by a Kindred vampire, it is known as the Embrace, the vampire siring the human to embrace them into their own bloodline.

Each city has a ruler, a "Prince" who enforces the laws of The Masquerade that govern them to protect their anonymity. A clan is a group of vampires "related" by blood; i.e. the vampiric equivalent of an extended family or lineage. A clan is usually a large group, acknowledged widely in the vampiric society. Each clan nurture their own characteristics and traits, and each clan has its strengths and weaknesses. Often the clans do not always get along with certain clans such as the Brujah and the Ventrue actually hating one another. Each clan within a given area has a representative, a Primogen, who is usually the eldest and most powerful member of the clan, who attends the leader or prince's advisory council. This status also grants the character social advantages and greater power than being a normal member of their clan.

brujah clan
In the modern setting (Vampire: The Masquerade), the Brujah are characterized mostly as anarchists. "The typical Brujah wears a biker jacket, tattered jeans, combat boots...". Brujah childer conduct their political conventions amongst the noise of raves and punk-rock concerts. Their Ancilla have long used secret, impromptu, and often violent rants to propel their anarchic culture. In comparison to other vampires, the Brujah are especially violent. Currently the most popular symbol of Brujah is upside-down form of Circle A Red.

The Brujah were not always so anarchic: in the past, they were warrior-philosophers, and they engineered the creation of Carthage, the fabled city where Kindred and kine walked freely amongst each other. However, the dream would not be realized, as the city was destroyed by forces within and without; the Brujah of the modern nights primarily blame the Ventrue, Toreador and Malkavians for Carthage's fall, though they are also suspicious of the Lasombra for a suspected role in the fall of their city. Many, if not all Brujah dream of re-making their fabled Carthage, unfortunately most of the Brujah have a very different vision of what it should be. Of course the utopia that the Brujah aspire to may not be all that the clan elders describe, with rumors of links to the diabolic Baali and their infernal practices.

In modern times, the Brujah have split into two primary groups: the intelligent, politically active Brujah, many of which are fiery and outspoken among the vampires society, and the raging, angry counter-culture Brujah that most other vampires think of when they try to picture a member of the Clan. Strangely enough, Brujah Princes are relatively common among the Camarilla, ranking perhaps second for the number of Princes ruling over a city.

Like all vampires, Brujah have a clan flaw associated with them. Brujah are known for their fiery and often violent tempers, having more trouble than any clan does to keep their homicidal tendencies at bay. They fall to their Beast with disturbing frequency, and tend to get quite agitated if this flaw is ever mentioned in their presence.

Members of this clan are haunted by rumors of a bloodline calling itself the True Brujah.
